Scholarship Spotlight: Keenan

We are excited to announce this month’s scholarship recipient Keenan

Keenan is currently a student at Missouri State University. Upon graduation, he hopes to return to his home state, Texas, and begin his new career.

Keenan has been with BGCS for about three years and coaches basketball, baseball, and flag football. Through this role, Keenan is helping Club members see their athletic potential and encouraging growth, as well as good sportsmanship.

“My favorite things about being BGCS coach is, one, seeing the kids achieve so much in the sports they play and having more kids come to me and tell me that they want me to coach them,” says Keenan.

Keenan said that being a coach at BGCS helped him commit to a career he knew he would love.

“The Boys & Girls Club helped me find what I wanted to do in life and what career I wanted to pursue. I was pushed into coaching for the Club and I’ve loved it ever since and I want to continue to change kids' lives and help them stay active and live a healthy life.”

Scholarships benefit our staff, Club members, as well as alumni. For Keenan, the Club Scholarship has prevented him from taking out student loans..

“That little boost helped me out a lot and I did not have to worry about stacking up student loans.”

We are extremely proud of Keenan and his dedication to his education as well as the Club. We know he will continue to help make great futures happen!
