2021 Youth of the Year candidates were recognized in a special, virtual celebration

It was a day of cheer, as middle and high school youth from each Unit gathered for a special virtual and socially-distanced celebration!

Youth of the Year is our signature effort to foster a new generation of leaders, fully prepared to live and lead in a diverse, global and integrated world. Established in 1947, the program is used as a year round tool for fostering young people’s character, personal growth and leadership qualities.

Porsha, high school senior and member of the Stalnaker Unit won the BGCS Alumni Association Award. Alex, high school senior and member of the Musgrave Unit won the Great Futures Award, sponsored by Heart of the Ozarks Sertoma Club.

A special congratulations goes to Abigail, fifth grader and member of the Stalnaker Unit, for being named Springfield's 2021 JR. Youth of the Year and to Juliette, high school sophomore and member of the Musgrave Unit for being named Springfield's 2021 Youth of the Year winner.

“I am so proud of all of our candidates. Juliette is a remarkable young woman. She is truly one of the most resilient people I have ever met,” said CEO Brandy Harris, “During the Youth of the Year process, she worked so hard to be vulnerable and share her story in order to help others. I am so proud of her and cannot wait to see the remarkable things she does.”

We are incredibly proud of all of our candidates. They are a special group of individuals and their futures are so bright!
