On Monday, April 17, over 100 members of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield took part in the sixth annual 'Good CHARacter Dinner', an annual dinner celebrating youth academic success hosted by restaurateur and business owner Mike Jalili, owner of Flame Steakhouse, Black Sheep Burgers and Shakes and CHAR Steakhouse.

Additionally, members were required to participate in at least 10 hours of community service.

"As a key component of our operation, we work hard to help kids bridge academic gaps," said Brandy Harris, CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield. "I am so proud of our Club members. They have been working so hard this year. And this week, we were able to recognize some of our Club members for their commitment to academic success.

The event included a buffet, speeches from Harris, Jalili, as well as 2023 BGCS Youth of the Year Tyvon Huddleston. Additionally, one member of each BGCS unit was given special recognition which included a Certificate of Most Improved, presented to each winner by Jalili.
