Missouri Youth of the Year

Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield is proud to announce that Emilee, the organization’s 2026 Youth of the Year, has been named the 2026 Missouri Youth of the Year.

The honor was awarded at the Missouri Youth of the Year Luncheon held last week in Jefferson City, where members representing 12 different Clubs in the Missouri Alliance of Boys & Girls Clubs were recognized during the event. Youth compete in two age divisions: Junior Youth of the Year (ages 10–13) and Youth of the Year (ages 14–18), with additional Military Youth of the Year competitors in the older division.

Emilee celebrates with her grandparents after earning State Youth of the Year recognition.

Emilee was selected as one of three finalists and delivered a speech before being named the statewide winner. With this recognition, she received a $2,500 college scholarship from The Freedman Foundation and will advance to the regional level of the competition. She will also serve as Missouri’s Youth of the Year ambassador over the next year.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield was also proud to have Ryan represent the organization as a finalist in the Junior Youth of the Year competition. Ryan did a fantastic job representing his Club and community on the state stage.

Jr. YOY honoree Ryan sits at the Lieutenant Governor's desk during a tour of the state capital.

“I couldn’t be more proud of Emilee for representing Springfield,” said Brandy Harris, CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield. “Watching her step into this experience—learning, leading, and fully embracing every moment—has been incredible.”

A junior at Parkview High School, Emilee was named the local Youth of the Year earlier this year, receiving a $20,000 scholarship from BGC Partners in Education. The award recognizes outstanding leadership, service, academic success, and character.

Reflecting on her experience, Emilee shared, “The Club helped me find my voice and believe in myself. It’s my second home.”

Emilee will go on to represent Missouri at the regional level, with the opportunity to advance to the national competition.
