Spotlight: BGC Partners in Education

The energy was bright and the smiles even brighter as families, friends and community partners came together for this year's Lights on Afterschool celebration, hosted by BGC Partners in Education (PIE) and presented by Heart of the Ozarks Sertoma Club. The event was filled with games, food and prizes, but beyond the festivities, it carried a powerful purpose: raising vital support for scholarships and educational opportunities for Boys & Girls Club members and alumni. 

Each year, Lights on Afterschool serves as a shining reminder of the incredible impact afterschool programs have on young people, families, and the entire community. These programs open doors to learning and leadership, and thanks to the dedication of PIE, more youth than ever can step confidently toward their futures.

Empowering Education, Building Great Futures

BGC Partners in Education is a passionate group of community volunteers who collaborate with Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield to advance a shared mission: ensuring every young person has the opportunity to pursue higher education and career success.

As the premiere scholarship sponsor of our Youth of the Year program, PIE awards college scholarships to recognized youth for their leadership, service and resilience.

But their support doesn’t stop there. PIE accepts year-round funding requests to help cover essential academic needs such as testing fees, dual credit classes, and academic camps or activities, helping remove barriers that might otherwise limit a student’s potential.

Destination Success: A Pathway to Skilled Trades

PIE also offers Destination Success, a scholarship program designed to empower Boys & Girls Club members pursuing trade careers.

Whether it’s welding, healthcare, information technology, or another skilled field, Destination Success provides up to $5,000 per school year (with a maximum of $10,000 per student) to cover tuition, books, and equipment. This investment in hands-on, high-demand professions ensures that Club youth have multiple pathways to a sustainable and rewarding future.

Lighting the Way for Tomorrow's Leaders

Events like Lights on Afterschool highlight what makes the Boys & Girls Club community so special: people coming together to lift up the next generation. The funds raised this year will make it possible for even more young people to explore their potential, achieve their goals, and build Great Futures.
