Boxing Legend Ray Mercer Visits Clubs

Heavyweight champ and sports legend Ray Mercer stopped by the Boys & Girls Clubs on Thursday, June 7th, 2018 to encourage Club members and speak to them about his experiences.

Mercer is a former professional boxer, kickboxer, and mixed martial artist. In boxing he competed from 1989 to 2008, and held the WBO heavyweight title from 1991 to 1992. As an amateur he won a gold medal in the heavyweight division at the 1988 Summer Olympics.

Mercer is in town for the upcoming Always Ready to Rumble VI event on Saturday, June 9th, 2018. The event is sponsored by Smitty's Boxing Gym and features top amateur boxers from the surrounding 12 state area. The event begins at 2pm and is located at the Stalnaker Unit at 1410 N. Fremont Ave.

The event is FREE for current Club members and children under the age of 7. Kids 7+ are $5, and adults 18+ are $10.
