The Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield awards more than $85,000.00 annually in college scholarships to former Club members and staff pursuing a degree in higher education. The goal of the Boys & Girls Club's Scholarship Program is to give members an opportunity to reach their goals by attending college or trade school. Scholarship recipients are selected and interviewed annually by the Boys & Girls Club Scholarship Committee appointed by the Board of Directors.

YOUTH OF THE YEAR

In February of each year, The Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield awards a $6000.00 Youth of the Year Scholarship to one member. This member is chosen from the twelve Youth of the Month winners during an interview process in January. The ten Youth of the Month winners each receive a $500.00 scholarship to be used towards their college education. The Ladies Auxiliary is sponsoring this years Youth of the Month $500 scholarships.  For more information about the YOUTH OF THE YEAR and YOUTH OF THE MONTH Program please contact Cindy Dodson, Scholarship Outreach Director.

The Charlie & Mary Beth O'Reilly Family Foundation Leadership Scholar Fund

Charlie & Mary Beth O'Reilly
Charlie & Mary Beth O'Reilly

  • Established in June 2002 with the Charlie and Mary Beth O'Reilly Family Foundation for members attending the Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield.
  • Students most often will be chosen at the end of their 8th grade school year.
  • Each student is selected by the Boys & Girls Club staff. The staff will complete a STAFF RECOMMENDATION FORM. These forms are turned into the Scholarship/Outreach Director for review. The Director will then schedule a meeting with each student and their parent/legal guardian. The student's chosen will then meet Mr. and Mrs. O'Reilly at a reception to be held annually for all OLSP members.
  • Students will be tracked during their 9th-12th grade years. Teen Directors and the Scholarship/Outreach Director will work with the student to document their progress and goals each school year. Meetings and open communication between the Club staff and school will be vital to the student's success in this program.
