Meet Isaac

Isaac DeMottaTen-year-old Isaac DeMotta has the best of both worlds. During the school year, Isaac attends the Henderson Unit because he attends nearby Bowerman Elementary. And during the summer, the fifth-grader is a member of the Musgrave Unit because it is more convenient for his parents.

A four-year member of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield, Isaac likes that the Boys & Girls Club has many activities to offer. “At the club, you can do pretty much anything you are interested in. I like both sports and computers,” Isaac said.

Isaac is really excited that he had the opportunity to go to the revealing of the ABC Extreme Makeover: Home Edition project, which benefited the Hampton family, whose children attend the club. “The Home Makeover trip was really cool,” Isaac said.

Isaac said that if he did not have a Boys & Girls Club to attend, he would have to stay at home. He said that the club has taught him to get rid of bullies. “I have learned not to keep fighting back, but to play by the rules,” Isaac explained.

When he is not playing sports in the gym or learning in the computer lab, Isaac helps out his mother a lot. “I like to do community service,” he said. “I have helped with park cleanups.”

Isaac is proud to be a Boys & Girls Club member. “The club is always helping when you have a problem. The staff does their best,” he commented.
