Jennie Lincoln

Jennie Lincoln

Jennie M. Adams Lincoln was the founder of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield. As the wife of Juvenile Judge A.W. Lincoln, Jennie started the Northside Club for Boys in 1938 in order to help at-risk youth in the community.

For 10 years, the Club met in the basement of the Community Building on Commercial Street. Her wish to have the Club chartered with the Boys Club of America was granted in 1946, one year after her death.

Jennie also formed the Boys Club Women’s Auxiliary in 1939, and the Auxiliary has shown strong support of the Boys & Girls Club since its creation. The current Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield as we know it would not exist without the dedication, vision and perseverance of Mrs. Jennie Lincoln.

Inducted into the Hall of Fame on February 3, 2009.
